I think they should turn it over to the people at the Debian project who name every release for a toy story character. Old list I've pasted here, buster is now a stable release.

It is possible for something to intentionally have a double meaning.

Given the overall naming convention I'd actually hazzard a guess that Sid the ToyStory character was the initial reason for the name and Still In Development is a backronym.


I think it was a backronym, but it was referred to when I first used Debian in 2000 so it's hardly new
